College of Teacher Education (CTE) took the gold medals after taking down last year's tithleholder, College of Arts and Sciences in an intense match-up, 25-23, 19-25, 25-16 at the CNU Inner Court, Wednesday afternoon.
Despite the scorching heat of the sun, a tight first set was catered to the crowd as CTE and CAS exchanged points respectively.
Receiving, setting, and attacking were on-point for both teams but it was CTE who never gave up and gave their college the first set, 25-23.
Last year's defending champions tried to open the second set with a statement and get away from the squad in blue.
Teamwork played a crucial point as CAS claimed the second set and forced a deciding set.
Entering the finals set, top-seeded CTE was determined to dethrone CAS and successfully took the crown with a score of 25-16.
Senior players from CAS cried as they failed to defend their title on their last playing year.
CTE'S Team Captain, Robert Tumakay shared that proper strategy gave them the opportunity to tally points and win the championship.
"Kay ang volleyball dili pakusganay kundi utukay," sais Tumakay.
