After months of all their sacrifices, Normalites were recognized for making it to the dean’s list yesterday afternoon at Samuel McClintock Hall.

It was a remarkable event for this year as the brilliant students from College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) were acknowledged for their prestige and honor during the Academic Year 2016-2017.

With the theme, "The SUC's: Seat of Fulfillment of the Collective Vision and Aspiration for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development," Mrs. Gwendelina Villarante, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs welcomed all the awardees with her warmest welcome address.

Dr. Daisy R. Palompon, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs also gave her warm and inspiring message to all the Liberals.

“It is our responsibility and it is an inspiring effort on the part of the university to be part of your success”, she said.

She motivated the students to keep moving forward as she added, "Choose to live a life that matters... What matters is you and your character.”

The awardees were then called one by one to walk on stage with the presence of Dr. Palompon, Dr. Milagros Greif, the OIC Dean of College of Arts and Sciences and Mrs. Villarante as they gave the certificates and congratulate every deserving student.

The top academic awardees in every year level were Prince Charles Eleazer O. Maratas, a BA- Political Science student, Paula Mendoza, a BA- Communication student and Sheen Michael D. Mañigo, also a BA- Communication student.

Sheen Michael D. Mañigo, the top student of all academic awardees in the third year level delivered his speech before wrapping up the event.

He said, "I came here to learn. The best of what has been said and done"

According to Mañigo, learning like love is a gift. It has to be given freely. But in order to receive it, one must be humble and full of gratitude.

As he was about to end his speech, he left these motivating words, "We already stand at the brink and whether it turns out for the best or for the worst, it will probably rest upon us all."

Dr. Joseph Elvir C. Tubilan also presented the non-academic awardees from the CAS Department.
